Wish I could post date these.

I thought I would go back to my last trip, and add ideas.  But then I realised that the dates would all appear incorrectly. So much for my planning.

Arrived at Tehran Airport after an overnight flight through Dubai.  Isn't it great seeing that "Welcome" sign, knowing that the hotel is all booked?  The Enghelab Hotel looked dated.  It is near to many sites, and Tehran traffic can be heavy.  Staff were friendly enough and the breakfast probably was one of the better ones. Tours start here.
At first I thought the dining room / ballroom near the top floor was derelict, but later there was a wedding held there.  So I guess it looks better under lights?

Our bus trip around the suburbs was enlightening.  Women wear head scarves, but sometimes it's a pretty one popped on the bacl of the head, other times it's the whole covering.

Spring with tulips.  It looks like the flower displays are changed regularly.  Some were in vertical flower beds, some colour coordinated across the parks. Now I am wondering how long these last, because at home, Spring seems to be over in a week.  The road system moved around traffic lights and huge round-a-bouts.  I don't think we saw an accident in 16 days, yet often the three lane highways had five or six cars moving slowly forward.

I am always amazed at local ingenuity.  While in other places, workers will "requisition" equipment, I watched this man repair his broom, then keep sweeping.

April 2014 - Iran

Travelled from Adelaide to Iran in the week before the school holidays.
We had been told that we needed to take our headscarves to wear as soon as we were in Iranian airspace, but that, like several other "warnings" proved to be a bit of overkill. Watching those around us, we "scarfed up" before leaving the plane. I wanted to see different architecture, and I wasn't disappointed.
